Discrimination against minorities in Iran, including Kurds, Balochs, Ahwazis, and Azeris, continues under the rule of Iranian authorities. lately Iranian authorities have sentenced a number of civilians from Kurdish and Baloch communities to the death penalty, a practice that we strongly condemn. As Kurdistan Human Rights Development, we urge the international community to set a barrier against these violations and ensure accountability for these ongoing abuses. In Iraq, the November elections have not been fair for the Kurdish people based on the current electoral model. At the same time, the Iraqi government continues to impose economic pressure on the Kurdistan region, cutting the budget and salaries of its employees. Also, Christians and the Kaka’i religious minority face insecurity in practicing their religion and culture, with Iraq’s Christian population declining sharply since 2003 and Kaka’i still denied recognition of their faith. In Syria, the government has introduced a new institution that continues to overlook the rights of minorities, particularly Kurds and Druze communities. Both groups have faced significant difficulties and periods of violence leading to deep concern for their safety and well-being. I once again call upon the international community to ensure that the rights and protection of these minorities are upheld. Thank you so much.
