Alexandra Cosima Budabin is Senior Researcher at the Eurac Research Institute for Minority Rights
and Center for Autonomy Experience (Italy). She is an Affiliated Senior Researcher at the Human
Rights Center of the University of Dayton (USA). She holds A.B. and M.A. degrees in History of
Art and Architecture, History, and Social Thought and Humanities from Harvard University and
New York University, and a PhD in Politics from the New School for Social Research (USA). She
is editor of Religious Minorities in Pluralist Societies: Critical Perspectives on the Accommodation
of Religious Diversities with Roberta Medda-Windischer and Kerstin Wonisch (Brill 2023) and
Minority Women, Rights and Intersectionality: Agency, Power, and Participation with Jody
Metcalfe and Shilpi Pandey (Routledge 2025). She is a thematic expert for the project Cultural and
Religious Diversity across the European Union (CUREDI) at the Department of Law &
Anthropology at the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology. She conducts resear ch on
international protections for national/religious minorities, transnational advocacy, cultural heritage,
gender and security.
