Asociatia Drepturile Noastre-Jogaink Egyesület
Dear chair, dear colleagues, my name is Takács Kató Kata, and I am here to represent Our Rights
Association, the aim of which is the legal protection of the Hungarian minority in Romania, and the
legal education of youth. When preparing for the Forum, we asked teachers and students to express
their opinion about the Romanian educational system. Unfortunately, there were mostly negative
characteristics mentioned, most of them stating that our system is anachronistic, unorganized, and
relies heavily on theoretical knowledge. Taking into consideration this opinion, we would like to
make the following recommendations. An open discussion about the issues in the educational
system. A long-term plan for education. A student-centered education. Preparing for life, not for
exams and no discrimination in education, which will be the most important of them all. I think that
young people could be great partners to work with when dealing with subjects like peace and
stability. And I believe that education is the most important condition of progress in all of our
communities.
Thank you.
