Jssor Youth Organisation
I am Dan Alsakat with Jssor Youth Organization. I am a Syriac Christian from Nineveh, Iraq, and I am
honored to participate on their behalf. Minority youth could play a vital role to be a positive change
for peace and stability if they were allowed to. I am here to draw your attention to Iraq, post-ISIS, and
the challenging process of rebuilding peace and stability, trustful relationships, and reconciliation
among its communities. There should be a clear understanding that there is a need to rebuild the
destroyed churches, places of worship, and different religious houses, as well as services. Nevertheless,
there should be a rehabilitation of the psychological status of people, and we should put people
together to talk and break the barriers that the young people have to be in charge of of these processes
and these activities. I have a question here, which is not related somehow: why are minorities, whether
they are Christian, Yazidis, Zabayi, and other respected ethnicities in Nineveh, who fled from Nineveh
in 2014, and these areas have been now liberated, why are they not willing to return, or somehow
they return but are living there with fear and lack of trust in others in the same community. My
