PM of Lesotho
Madame Chair, Excellencies, Distinguished delegates, the Kingdom of Lesotho is honored to
contribute to this important discussion on building trust and social cohesion, a theme that lies at
the heart of peaceful coexistence and sustainable development. As a nation founded on shared
identity, community values, and respect for human dignity, Lesotho remains committed to
strengthening the structures that unite our people and enhance peaceful coexistence. In recent
years, Lesotho has undertaken significant constitutional and legislative measures to enhance
social cohesion, including reforms aimed at improving access to justice, expanding inclusive
education, and strengthening community-level dialogue mechanisms that promote tolerance and
mutual understanding. These efforts have allowed us to address emerging tensions early, foster
constructive engagement and reinforce trust in public institutions. We however acknowledge that
challenges still persist. Socio-economic disparities, geographical isolation of rural communities,
and limited access to information continue to create barriers that can undermine peaceful
coexistence. Climate-related pressures digital divides and further risk exacerbating vulnerabilities
if not addressed comprehensively. Lesotho therefore welcome’s the Forum’s focus on identifying
practical solutions to overcome these barriers. We stand ready to work with partners to remain
committed to inclusive governance, promotion of equitable access to services, and to ensure that
every person, regardless of background, feels valued, heard and protected. I thank you.
